Fall 2011 Conference
Using What We Know to Improve Student Learning
When:
October 24th and 25th, 2011
Where:
Hilton Garden Inn, 5 Park Street, Freeport, Maine
Program:
The Maine Curriculum Leaders’ Association fall conference explores three powerful ways to increase student learning. Spend two days with colleagues learning more about the impact of student engagement, effective use of formative assessment and feedback, and organizing schools so students can reach common standards.
- October 24: Members of the Maine Cohort for Customized Learning (MCCL), formerly the Reinventing Schools Coalition pilot sites, will share their experiences with standards-based practice, including student engagement. Bea McGarvey will provide an overview of formative assessment and effective feedback.
- October 25: Heidi McGinley, RtI Support System Project Director, will discuss ways to incorporate student learning research into RtI design. Stephen Bowen, Maine's Education Commissioner, will provide an update on Maine's long-term educational planning followed by an educational policy discussion that will allow participants to apply what they know about student learning to potential state policy directions.
